Dance Medicine

We provide expert care for dancers of all ages, focusing on injury recovery, safe return to dance, and performance improvement. Our specialists include pediatric-trained sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers who work together to create personalized care plans for each dancer, supporting overall health and wellness.  

Integration with additional medical services is available, as needed, such as:  

  • Therapeutic exercise (including Pilates reformer, progressive ballet technique and strength and conditioning principles)
  • Imaging modalities (x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and US guided procedures)
  • Dance specific evaluation (dance technique and pointe shoe assessment) 
  • Nutrition services (including body composition analysis)
  • Orthopedic surgery and complementary medical specialties

What is the Dance Clinic?

The Dance Clinic is designed for dancers who are injured or returning to dance after an injury. Our team evaluates recreational and competitive dancers to help them recover, prevent future injuries, and improve their technique. Services may include: 

  • Injury assessments
  • Performance recommendations
  • Pointe shoe evaluation (if necessary)

What is the Ready to Perform Program?

Our Ready to Perform Program is for healthy dancers who want to prepare for pointe work or improve their technique and performance. This fee-based program offers two options:

  • Pre-Pointe Evaluation – Assesses strength, flexibility, balance, and dance technique to determine pointe readiness and provides personalized exercises and recommendations.
  • Dance Wellness Screen – Reviews overall health and dance readiness, including flexibility, strength, aerobic fitness, and technique, with recommendations for wellness and performance improvement.

Both options include a detailed analysis for dancers to share with their instructors, helping them progress safely and confidently.
