Clinical Research / Quality Improvement Initiatives
The Division of Neonatology at Cincinnati Children’s is a leader in clinical research, advancing evidence-based care for critically ill and premature infants. Our faculty conduct cutting-edge clinical trials, observational studies, and quality improvement initiatives that directly impact neonatal outcomes.
Clinical research efforts span a wide range of topics, including optimizing respiratory support, improving neonatal nutrition, understanding neonatal immune responses, and developing neuroprotective strategies for preterm and high-risk newborns.
Fellow and faculty collaborate with national and international research networks, including the Neonatal Research Network (NRN), the Vermont Oxford Network (VON), and the Ohio Perinatal Quality Collaborative (OPQC) ensuring that findings from our institution shape neonatal care on a global scale.
With access to a high-volume Level IV NICU, specialized clinical programs, and a dedicated neonatal follow-up network, our trainees and investigators are well-positioned to conduct impactful research that bridges the gap between discovery and clinical practice, improving the lives of neonates and their families.
We are also dedicated to advancing quality improvement (QI) research to enhance neonatal care and patient outcomes. Using data-driven methodologies, implementation science, and multidisciplinary collaboration, our faculty and trainees lead initiatives to optimize patient safety, reduce complications, and improve healthcare delivery in the NICU. Fellows in our program receive hands-on training in QI research, preparing them to become future leaders in neonatal healthcare innovation and patient-centered care.
