Neurogastroenterology and Motility Disorders

Our Neurogastroenterology and Motility Center combines cutting edge technology and state of the art multidisciplinary care. We investigate gut motility patterns, microbial disruptions, sleep disorders, and gut-brain interactions. We research mechanisms and treatments, including new neuromodulation strategies, for gut dysmotility disorders such as achalasia, gastroparesis, intestinal pseudo-obstruction, Hirschsprung’s disease, refractory constipation, and spinal cord disorders. Our work partners with the Pediatric Pain Research Center and the Center for Stem Cell & Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM) on studies related to conditioned pain modulation in clinical, animal, and organoid models of chronic pain and gut-brain interactions.
