WE4H Community Health Fairs and the Health Passport

Health fairs are commonly but imperfectly used to address health needs in underserved communities. However, most event organizers fail to coordinate and collect health information from attendees and rarely evaluate their event’s success. WE4H partners with communities to offer unique but targeted community health fairs. Tables at the fairs each include a 4-panel graphic style story that attendees read aloud together. The stories open up discussions about the health topics in a low stakes manner. To encourage visitation to each table, attendees are asked to carry with them a Health Passport that is stamped at each table after they participate and then complete brief anonymous surveys. The surveys can be customized based on a community’s needs and the resulting data can be collected via paper or via mobile devices. Community-wide health summaries can be created for diverse stakeholders to see and use for quality improvement, to drive programming, and to serve as preliminary data for future grants and research. Volunteers are always needed and are offered pre-event training! Not ready to have a health fair? WE4H Community Fellowship gatherings are a mini version of the health fair offered to established groups wanting health -related programming.
